Almost 40 years ago I started to use junk food as subject matter for oil paintings. Even the enlightened in the ‘art community’ raised their eyebrows and generally took a pass.
I was, and still am, amazed at what people will eat: industrial food-like substances that our grandmothers would never recognize, let alone feed to friends. I have noticed that some of this ‘stuff’ has become high-end restaurant fare, and Spam is a star. This puzzles me and is on my list of growing things I do not understand.
I am still painting junk food and am making something for the table that reflects my interests. Amazing.
Enjoy and be well,
Harlan

It is better to be painting junk food and not eating it! But you are a smart lad…
Fabulous art work and very interesting! Keep up the great works that you create!!!
Never thought of Spam being well-balanced.
Best wishes,
John
I expect you’re still raising eyebrows (ours are raised), but for different reasons. Keep waking us up. We’re listening and appreciating, always.
Your candle is much more eye catching for its value than the Spam
Love it!!!

You are always bringing fun to our world. I have only tasted Spam once, I think the candle would taste better! Hugs enclosed!
Spam is just poor people’s Pate….poor in taste rather than money…Spam is quite expensive for what it is…
Celebration for the season.
How about a spam chandelier next?
Finally, Spam is cleverly packaged artistically and with much humour
Harlan you never fail to make me laugh love it Virginia
